Eye with Rubies Video Demonstration
Eye with Rubies Video Demonstration
Video demonstration of oil painting an eye with the Warm/Cool Palette. This is a study inspired by William Bouguereau’s 19th-century painting “Girl with a Pomegranate.”
The initial Warm/Cool pass on the eye is filmed real-time and fully narrated, showing both the painting and palette. Because of the way I set up my palette in a grid, in addition to seeing every brushstroke, you will be able to identify the value and chroma of the paint I am grabbing for each brushstroke. (I often narrate this out loud as well for clarity). As I paint, I discuss skin tones but also some anatomy and structure of the eye.
I’ve also included some bonus material: reference images if you would like to paint along with the demonstration; videos that will guide you through mixing a basic Warm/Cool palette; plus, an overview of the rest of my process for this piece.
Upon purchase, you will be emailed a password and link to the online course page where you will access the videos and reference images.
